Lynne & Les, U/K -
Max
This
is Max, we adopted him 2 1/2 years ago from SYESSR, he has presented us
with a few challenges to overcome, namely, anxieties in the form of
thunder, fireworks and any loud or sudden noises which made him quite
distressed and very destructive.
Having
recently moved to a much more peaceful, outlying area, Max's true
character is really shining through, loving the outdoors, and especially
water!, he is the centre of our lives.
We
lost our 16 year old border collie, Rupert, 8 months prior to finding
Max, never thinking that we would be able to fill the awful gap left by
his departure, then we discovered 'The Springer !', that mischievous,
loyal, bright eyed rascal, never more at home than when out in the woods
or the local lake, except maybe when dozing on one of the beds in the
household !

Joan, UK -
Jack
This
is my “JACK”.
He’s the love of my life.
I’ve had a few dogs over the years and after losing my last
terrier I swore I’d never have another dog.
I just get so upset.
I got Jack as a puppy after 10 years of being dogless.
That’ 10 years without the unconditional love a dog can bring.
He has brought a light back into my life.
I have never had such a loving dog. He
has a wonderful temperament.
He’s so laid back he’s horizontal.
I
live in a small Welsh village where everyone knows him.
I work full time but have someone who walks him twice a day and
sits with him for hours.
Everyone that knows him is besotted with him.
Seeing him so happy is my greatest pleasure.
I’m very tempted to get another one but worry how he’d handle a
cuckoo in the nest.
In this first picture he’s run ahead and is waiting for me to
catch up and sit on the rock with him. From
that rock we can see up and down the valley and
the Brecon Beacons in the distance. It’s
a 5 minute walk from my house but I’d never been there till I got Jack.

Sylvia
& Colin, UK - Toby.
`Thursday
9th February 2006 will be a day that will never be forgotten in our
household for that was the day we collected our bundle of joy, fun and
happiness from SYESSR.
Toby
has kept us laughing and having fun ever since. He is such a
wonderful character who has added so much to our lives.
We had thought at first to walk him on the nearby beaches, but he just
loves tearing about in the fields and undergrowth, where the smells are so
much better. His main walk each day is along a river bounded
by huge open fields, where he just goes mad, shooting about like a bat out
of hell, his feet barely touching the ground, or scrambling about in the
undergrowth, flushing out pheasants and the occasional deer. The
pheasants shoot out squawking most indignantly when he is in their
vicinity, and he can spot
them a mile off in the open field. It is such a joy to see him
tearing
around. Occasionally he finds a discarded fish carcass or skin which
the otter has obviously discarded, or a dead bird, both of which he loves
to get his teeth into, much to our horror !
He gets four walks a day (about forty-two human miles a week) and his dad
has lost a lot of weight. (Mum needs to go along too).
Toby loves lots of cuddles and treats, tearing up paper, chewing anything
that comes to hand, and playing tugging. He also loves Colin`s
chair and loses no opportunity to nip into it whenever Colin moves.
He sleeps a lot on his back with all four legs up in the air.
If he is on the sofa he hangs his head down, and consequently ends up
falling off. Most evenings he takes himself off to his bed at around
9 o'clock only to be woken up later for his last walk, going straight back
to his bed when he comes back in. He is sure there is a dog lives in
the television, but he cant see him, and that is about the only time he
barks.
He
thinks everyone is his friend, no problems with the postman for us.
He loves the car, goes straight off to sleep; we often think we must have
left him behind at the last stop. If he is feeling neglected he
pounces on the nearest shoes (or boot) and, making no attempt to chew
them, but unwillling to hand them over, looks coyly at
you. He runs around in circles when he is excited, and often
tears around the garden at breakneck speed, doing hand-break stops and one
point turns.
He loves `helping` with the gardening. When he gets
really silly we
threaten him with going back to the kennels, but he takes no notice of
thatfor he knows it would never happen!! He is not called Master of
the House for nothing ! |

Pat and Mark, UK - Reggie
(2 yrs)
During
summer we decided to get rid of the old fireplace and, with Reggie being a
springer he had to be right in the middle of it. Being responsible dog
owners we ensured that the correct health and safety rules were adhered to
and completed a full risk assessment. Here is the result ! |

|
Ian and Ann,
UK - Barney, Freddie, and Fudge.
Barney
is the black and white cheeky looking springer showing who’s the
boss.
The
picture of Barney & Freddie on the sofa was taken on their first day
together and finally there is Fudge, Barney & Freddie proving
they can sit still (even if it is only for a few seconds !).

June
and Peter, UK - Scooby (4 Yrs) & Daffie (16 mth)
The
gorgeous springer on the left
is Scooby (hubby wanted a Great Dane!!!).
He
is our most precious friend, loving, cheeky, very clever, would drop a
pork chop if you threw his ball, we love him to bits. A bit neurotic and
hates the postie but if you throw his ball he'll love you forever.
Steals my pea pods of the bushes in the summer!!!
Second
pic is Daffie ( Daffodil) as she is my little flower. Seriously cheeky,
loving, loves sitting under my arm at the back door surveying her
domain, adores Scooby too. Clever, funny, adorable and a little minx .
Loves to sit on my swinging seat in the garden. Also loves peapods and
will do anything for food food food. We love her.

David, Teresa, Marie and
Glen,UK - Millie & Shaggy (Aged 10 mths)
These
pictures are of our adorable Springer Spaniel Pups Millie and Shaggy,
They keep us busy and entertained every day.
Shaggy
is mischievous and loves to eat treats, chase Birds & Squirrels and
he loves to roll around in Fox Poo - much to our delight.
Millie
loves cuddles, kisses and loads of attention. She too loves to
chase Birds & Squirrels but is far too lady like to roll in poo, and
only has the odd treat - she is watching her figure we recon.
They
both love strangers, and they expect everyone to give them strokes.

Helen, UK- Sacha (Aged 3)
This
is Sacha on the night that we officially adopted her June 2006 from
SYESSR...dose she look pleased with herself or what?
Sacha
is settling in very well and enjoying her lovely long walks, she's
chasing anything that moves and is just pure delight, it was really
sad and painful to loose Penny with Kidney failure, getting Sacha
has eased our loss as she's like a breath of fresh air. We're just
looking forward to the next six months so she can really settle in.

Mark, UK -
Murphy
This
is Murphy, he really is a smashing dog.
His recall is amazing, only slightly wavering when he is near water, but
considering he has been with us for a week his is just amazing.......he is
also a loving dog, likes to lie beneath out feet on the sofa in his bed
and get tickled by our feet.
He sits & lies whenever commanded........and will do it for a simple
pat on the head and a good boy ruffle of hair.......but I do think
sometimes he prefers a bit of chicken or cheese .
Anyway he has been on huge walks with us already and never ever tires
until he comes home. He gets to play with a ball for 30mins and then the
rest of the time its all about running around and recall/obedience
work......and he loves it.
Anyway I have ranted for long enough, we are just so happy though as he is
gorgeous, just amazing, we are really happy that we have rescued a
slightly older dog as well though as they are often overlooked, we would
love to get him a lady friend in a few months as well.......

Paul &
Sharon, UK- TILLY (Aged 3)
THIS IS TILLYS FAVOURITE PLACE TO SIT AS IT GIVES
HER A
FEW VIEW OF THE GARDEN AND ANYTHING THAT MOVES IN IT, OR FLY'S OVER IT !
TILLY IS OUR FIRST SPRINGER AND CAME FROM SYESSR AT THE
AGE OF 5 MONTHS. SHE IS A REALLY GENTLE LADY AND A COMPLETE CONTRAST TO
HER STEP SISTER HOLLY (DETAILED BELOW).
OH HOW WE REMEMBER THOSE PUPPY DAYS: THE EATING OF THE
SOFA, VIDEOS, TRAINERS, WALLPAPER, ETC.
WE WOULDN'T SWAP HER FOR THE WORLD. |
|

|
Paul &
Sharon, UK- HOLLY (Aged 7)
IN CONTRAST TO TILLY ABOVE, WE WOULD SWAP HER !
NO, HONESTLY, SHE IS A REAL SWEET (BUT DETERMINED)
CHARACTER. SHE ENJOYS NOTHING MORE THAN EATING AND PLAYING WITH TILLY.
THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN WHEN SHE TORE HER CRUTIATE
LIGAMENT CHASING AFTER A BALL IN THE PARK. DESPITE THE POT AND NUMEROUS
VISITS TO THE VET SHE HAS REMAINED IN GOOD CHARACTER AND WOBBLED
EVERYWHERE.
NOW FULLY RECOVERED, SHE CONTINUES TO BE A REAL JOY TO
HAVE AROUND AND A CONSTANT SOURCE OF AMUSEMENT! |

Heather,
UK -WOODY (Aged 11) & JACK
(Aged 5)
Woody
joined us in November 1999. He came from SYESSR and was aged around 5yrs.
We actually think he is a cross breed, ½ Springer, ½ Hippopotamus
as he spends 60% of his time wallowing in mud.
Then 20% chasing tennis balls and the other 20% eating.
We aren’t sure how he manages it but wherever we go (no matter
how remote) he manages to find either a sandwich or a tennis ball.
A
few years later (December 2003) I was walking the Springer's at the
kennels and encountered Jack. Jack
was 3 yrs old (going on 3 months) and as mad as a hatter, I don’t know
what possessed me but after walking him a few times I decided to take him
home (much to my husbands dismay!). We’ve
now had him just over two years and he is still totally scatty and almost
un-trainable and now the sunshine has arrived we spend most of our time
stopping him chasing shadows and reflections.
He’s such as soppy, loving little thing though that you just
can’t help but forgive him. |

Karin, Bridgeport
USA- BENTLEY (Aged 2)
Bentley
is a 2 year old English Springer Spaniel who is filled with warmth,
intelligence, inquisitiveness, love, fun and surprise. He has an
inclination to eat, roll and chew paper of any kind to include newspapers,
magazines, bags, cardboard well anything that is paper. We believe it has
something to do with the fact that when we got him he was sent to us from
far far away by air. He had a very long plane ride in a kennel in which he
had nothing but shredded newspaper. He now has a real fascination with
paper. In fact, when he was a wee lad, he managed to climb up onto the
kitchen table without being noticed of course, and proceeded to take an
$8,000 cheque away with him which he promptly mouthed into unrecognizable
bits! Ah yes, he is priceless. |
|

|
Joanne, UK - BARNIE(Aged 8.5)
This
is Barnie doing what springers do best; paddling in mud and water.
Barnie is real handsome fella and Alison once said he looked like a
girl! He has never forgiven her! And is determined this year to win the
photo comp to prove that he is the most handsome fella on the circuit!
Barnie
has arthritis but doesn't have any concept of pain and so far his life
hasn't been affected at all; as you can see he still does all the things
he likes to do!
Barnies
favourite past time used to be chasing squirrels but he's not allowed to
do that anymore so I guess he would class his favourite past time as
water! And tuna and cheese!
Barnie
is just the most wonderful fella; a springer in every sense of the word
and the reason I fell in love with springers forever!

Nicky
& Paul, UK - MURPHY (17 months)
Murphy
nee Malcolm (yes we had to change his name, we didn't think our next
door neighbour would be too impressed!) has been with us for 6 months.
Since the day we collected him from Allison our lives have been a bit of
a whirlwind! Mud baths, bramble filled ears, 5 bar gate leaping, dry
stone wall jumping, sheep rustling, cushion eating, 25 fluffy ball
destructions, newspaper and magazine ripping, but we have to say its all
great fun! It is so wonderful to have such an enthusiastic dog, full of
life and so much love to give. And you just can't help but smile at his
grin when the lead comes out, (the grin usually comes after several eye
level leaps just in case you might forget to take him).

Sarah, UK -
BOBBY
This
is my springer puppy "Bobby".
the
majority of these were taken when he was 4-5 months old, where he
discovered that plants are a great source of amusement!
There
are some of Bobby's first trip to the sea-side as well!

Rachel, UK - BAILEY (Aged 3)
Hi
my name is Bailey, i'm the handsome one with the floppy ears with
my dad at Lands End. We had a great week in Newquay I even got
to sit in the hotel bar with my mum & dad & eat chewy sticks. I
am 3 years old now, well nearly my birthday is 6th June, my mum and dad
are having a party for me & my cousin Sally is coming round,
she's not a spaniel she's just a big black dog, that's us in my bed.
I
love digging in the sand, swimming, cuddles, stuffed toys and i'm
obsessed with tennis balls. I love my mum and dad the most, I am
even going to be a page boy at their wedding later on this year.
I've got millions of pictures of me, I even had some professional
ones done. Love
Bailey

Heather,
UK -WOODY (Aged 11) & JACK

BOTH THESE ARE OF WOODY
DURING SOME OF HIS DAFT MOMENTS. I WOULD SEND SOME OF JACK BUT HE NEVER
STAYS STILL LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE HIS PHOTO TAKEN.
HOPE THEY MAKE YOU SMILE !

Joanne, UK - CONKER
This
is Conker who we got from SYESSR ( yes he's a working cocker but
Alison couldn't resist him either) 5 months ago (time flies when
you're having fun!)
What
a 5 months this has been. Conker has come so far in 5 mths and
loves his obedience classes ( he still hasn't sussed that he must use
these skills in every day life yet though) its clear that he was
never socialised or handled or fed for that matter. We still have a few
'issues' with him but thankfully I have the patience of a saint and
nerves of steel cos this little boy is a tester. but how can you ever be
mad with a face like that? Conker is so loving and affectionate and
likes a good cuddle. His favourite hobbies are, birds, looking for birds
in trees, chasing birds, oh and more birds; the dog has an obsession! He
also loves food and last night helped himself to 4 cheese topped baps
that had been left on the side! Well; he went without food for so long I
don't think he'll ever forget!

Moira & Nigel, UK-
LUCAS (Aged 8)
believe
it or not. i came from sringer rescue too. My
name was originally Lucky but alison changed it as she did not think I had
been very lucky in my then 2 short years. My mum and dad were
looking for a Springer but when they saw me in rescue they fell in love
with me. Believe it or not my doggy mum was a springer and my doggy
daddy was a beardy collie.
I love going out with them for walks and in the car. I live in the
countryside and so there are lots of lovely walks nearby. I also
like going to the seaside and running on the sand and in the sea. I
also like chasing rabbits when I see them, but I have never caught one,
they have been too fast for me. I
have two cat sisters, one called Rosy who is also 8 and one called Jade
who is 13. Rosy is very friendly with me and loves to nudge me.
I sometimes give her a lick. Jade is not so friendly and I think
just tolerates me. She does not like me jumping and bouncing about
and moves out of my way. I always get very excited and mum says you
would think I was a 2 year old. I do not think I will ever grow up. |
|

|
Joanne, UK - ROSE
ALTHOUGH NOT A SPANIEL, LIVING WITH
TWO CERTAINLY MAKES HER ELIGIBLE OF A MENTION (IF NOT A MEDAL).
Good
old faithful 11 yr old Rose. She's still as fit as a lop and likes
nothing better than having her belly rubbed. Rose is the most obedient
dog you could hope for, she can walk off the lead at you side all day
long ( why can't they all be like that!) She is VERY tolerant as any dog
who lives with 2 crazy spaniels would need to be and has really taken to
mothering Conker. She even chases after him if he runs off and takes a
turn of spaniel deafness! She hasn't caught him yet but it's such fun
watching!
Rose
would class her hobbies as cats and belly rubs; what more could any dog
need!
