Help & Advice

We are often asked for advice on various subjects relating to dogs and are always happy for people to contact us by email or phone if they would like some advice.  We also see a number of questions and subjects discussed on social media which we think others may be interested in too.  We have therefore set up this area on our website where we can post information on subjects we think people may be interested in.

To make it easier for people to download and save or print this information we have included a pdf of each subject rather than putting the information directly onto the webpage.  If you click on the pdf image for the subject you are interested in you will be able to either read on line or download and save/print.

How to stop your dog being lost or stolen

Missing and stolen dogs seem to be all over social media at the moment so we thought we would put something together to help people ensure their dogs are kept safe and also tell them what to do should the worst happen.  The majority of this information we have “stolen” from a fabulous dog theft leaflet produced by Val Davies so a huge thank you to Val for all the work she put into that.

It’s a long read (and this is a condensed version) but if your dog goes missing you will be glad you have read it.  Click on the pdf image to download.

Helping to reunite dogs with their owners

Following on from the topic above most dog lovers have a fear that this will happen to them one day so hate to think of what the owners with missing dogs are going and want to want to help others be reunited with their own dogs.  As a rescue we get a lot of these posts shared with us and see the positives and negatives to them and why some work and some don't.  We therefore thought we would put together a short guide so that those who want to help reunite dogs make sure that their effort and shares are not wasted.

Seasonal Canine Illness

You may have heard or read information about mystery illnesses affecting our dogs, Seasonal Canine Illness (SCI) is one of these and we thought we would do an article on it to try and make things clearer.
